An arts collective invoking the power of SLOW.
 

A group of artists invoking the power of SLOW. We are artists who identify as working with a chronic illness or disability. Our mascot is the Pygmy SLOW Loris,  (Xanthonycticebus pygmaeus). A Vunerable creature found east of the Mekong River in Vietnam, Laos, eastern Cambodia, and China.

Though slow and nocturnal, this creature packs a venomous bite. (licking a toxic secretion from the glands on the inside of it's elbow before biting).

SLOWPOKE Slow_Power_Collective draws power from SLOW. We live in the SLOW due to our physical conditions but the slow power is a cultural movement. The SLOW movement advocates the slowing down of human life. SLOW living movement asks us to create a more meaningful and conscious lifestyle. There's the SLOW cook movement and the SLOW fashion movement all advocating mindfulness and conscious understanding of what consists of our daily life.  At SLOWPOKE Slow_Power_Collective we advocate for inclusion and accessibility. For us it is an enforced SLOW. With physical and emotional challenges. As SLOW as we are and how long the journey seems. We achieve remarkable things with the support and love of our SLOW friends. Bound together in our SLOWPOKE movement of our SLOW POWER COLLECTIVE.

- Our collective members in Australia acknowledge the traditional owners of this land past, present and future. This land was never ceded. We live and work on stolen land. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land. We live and work on the following country; Naarm, Bunurong, Wurundjeri.
